Course Overview

The Advanced Diploma in Cyber Security at LSCT is a Level 5 programme inside the Information Technology department, designed for Tier 1 SOC analysts, IT engineers and security graduates ready to step into Tier 2 SOC, blue-team and security-engineering work. Taught from our central London base over 12 to 15 months across on-campus, online and distance-learning routes from 2026, the programme is anchored in UK practice — NCSC playbooks, the UK Cyber Security Strategy, ICO breach reporting and the day-to-day work of a real London security operations centre.

Across the year you move from triage into deeper investigative work: detection engineering against MITRE ATT&CK, threat hunting in Microsoft Sentinel and Splunk, cloud security on Azure and AWS, secure architecture review and incident response coordination. By the end of the Advanced Diploma in Cyber Security you will have a portfolio of detection rules you have written and tested, a hands-on cloud-misconfiguration audit and the discipline to lead a contained incident through to lessons learned.

Entry Requirements

• A relevant Diploma (Level 4), Foundation Year, or at least two years of professional experience in IT support, networking, development or Tier 1 SOC roles.
• GCSE English Language at grade 4/C and Mathematics at grade 4/C (or equivalent); logical aptitude will be tested at interview for this programme.
• English language: IELTS 6.0 overall (no band below 5.5) for non-native English speakers.
• A short statement of intent and one academic or professional reference, ideally from a security or IT line manager.
