Higher Diploma in Leadership & Change Management
Course Overview
The Higher Diploma in Leadership & Change Management at the London School of International Business and Management (LSIBM) is a near-degree Level 5 qualification for change leaders preparing to top up into a UK Bachelor's degree in leadership while continuing to run transformation. Sitting inside the Human Resources & Leadership faculty, it covers transformation strategy, culture leadership, organisation design at scale, change-portfolio governance and applied research on organisational effectiveness.
The Higher Diploma runs over 15 to 18 months and is available on-campus in central London, fully online, or by distance learning. Tutors are practising change directors drawn from CMI Chartered and CIPD Chartered Fellow ranks, and the capstone is a two-year transformation programme defended in front of a working transformation director. The sections below cover modules, audience and progression.
Key Features
- Curriculum reviewed against CMI Level 5 senior units, CIPD Associate change-management competencies and Bachelor's-final-year leadership standards.
- Three study modes — central London campus, fully online, or distance learning — with the same tutor cohort.
- Capstone: a two-year transformation programme defended in front of a working transformation director.
- Confirmed credit transfer into the LSIBM BSc in Leadership Studies top-up route.
- Working reference to the ACAS Code, TULRCA s.188, TUPE and the Corporate Governance Code.
What You Will Learn
The Higher Diploma builds a strategic change leader. You will finish able to design a two-year transformation, own culture leadership at plc scale, structure organisation-design decisions rigorously, and defend a change strategy to a UK exec team.
- Transformation strategy — sequencing, pace, value realisation.
- Culture leadership — Schein, competing values, culture-measurement instruments.
- Organisation design at scale — spans, layers, capability model, target operating model.
- Change-portfolio governance — sponsorship model, dependency management.
- Employee engagement through the S-curve — voice, listening, closing loops.
- Restructuring at scale — TUPE, collective consultation, redundancy pools.
- Applied research — commissioning organisational effectiveness surveys.
- Ethical leadership under duty-of-care and Institute of Business Ethics guidance.
