Course Overview
The Diploma in Database Management at LSCT is a Level 4 qualification within the Information Technology department, built for IT support staff, junior developers and career changers who want a UK-recognised credential as a database administrator or SQL developer. The Diploma runs 9 to 12 months across on-campus, online and distance-learning routes from 2026, and is taught from our central London base — minutes from the City data teams and the Old Street fintech cluster.
Across the year you move from relational fundamentals into performance tuning, backup and recovery, replication, basic cloud database administration and the daily work of keeping a production database alive. You finish the Diploma in Database Management able to design a clean schema, write performant SQL, configure backups, restore from a failure and explain a query plan to a developer who broke it.

Entry Requirements
- Completed secondary schooling (A-levels, BTEC Level 3, IB or recognised international equivalent) or equivalent work experience in IT support, development or analytics.
- GCSE English Language at grade 4/C or above (or equivalent); basic comfort with Excel-style logic will be tested at induction.
- English language: IELTS 6.0 overall (no band below 5.5) for non-native English speakers.
- A short personal statement; mature applicants may apply with a CV evidencing IT or analytics experience.
