Course Overview
The Diploma in Software Development at LSCT is a Level 4 qualification within the Information Technology department, designed for career changers, self-taught coders and IT support staff who want a recognised UK route into junior software-engineering work. The Diploma runs 9 to 12 months across on-campus, online and distance-learning routes from 2026, and is taught from our central London base — minutes from the Silicon Roundabout cluster and the major UK engineering employers.
Across the year you move from programming fundamentals into web development, version control, basic cloud deployment and the engineering disciplines (testing, code review, CI/CD) that distinguish a usable junior from a bootcamp graduate still being trained. What You Will Learn

Entry Requirements
- Completed secondary schooling (A-levels, BTEC Level 3, IB or recognised international equivalent) or equivalent work experience — a public coding sample (even a small one) helps your application.
- GCSE English Language at grade 4/C or above (or equivalent); logical aptitude tested at interview.
- English language: IELTS 6.0 overall (no band below 5.5) for non-native English speakers.
- A short personal statement; mature applicants may apply with a GitHub profile and a short technical chat.
