Diploma in Business Operations
Course Overview
The Diploma in Business Operations at the London School of International Business and Management (LSIBM) is a Level 4 practitioner qualification for supervisors and managers running processes, continuous-improvement projects and vendor relationships inside UK businesses. Sitting inside the Business & Management faculty, the Diploma sequences CMI Level 5 operations content, APM project-management foundations and CIPS procurement basics into a working practitioner course. Post-pandemic UK operations agendas increasingly turn on resilience, supplier diversification and Border Target Operating Model compliance, and the syllabus is refreshed each intake to keep pace.
Delivered over nine to twelve months, the Diploma is taught by working operations managers and continuous-improvement leads, with fortnightly cohort clinics. The Diploma in Business Operations is available on-campus in central London, fully online, or by distance learning, and articulates directly onto LSIBM’s Advanced Diploma in Business Operations Strategy. Every cohort closes with a process-improvement defence in front of a working UK operations manager.

What You Will Learn
The Diploma treats business operations as the working discipline of the people who keep a UK business running each week — the operations manager, the COO office analyst, the continuous-improvement lead. You will graduate able to map a process, run a small improvement project and negotiate a vendor SLA.
- Process mapping — SIPOC, swim-lane, value-stream at practitioner level.
- Lean and Six Sigma at yellow-belt level — DMAIC, waste, root cause.
- APM foundation project management — scope, plan, risk, close.
- Vendor and supplier management — SLAs, KPIs, remediation.
- Procurement basics under CIPS competencies — sourcing to contract.
- Operations KPIs — OTIF, first-time-right, throughput.
- Working capital and inventory turn at operations level.
- Introduction to operations tech — ERP, MES, workflow tooling.
- Business continuity, incident response and lessons learned.
- Border Target Operating Model touchpoints for UK operations teams.

Why Study at LSIBM
The London School of International Business and Management (LSIBM) is a specialist business-education provider based in central London and part of Harold International College. We teach in small cohorts so every student is visible to their tutor, run a single intake schedule that students can rely on, and partner with UK professional bodies — CMI, CIM, CIPD, ACCA, CIMA, CFA UK, CIPS and IOE&IT — so qualifications carry weight with employers.
London puts the City, Canary Wharf, Whitehall, Companies House, the FCA, the Bank of England and the West End within a short tube ride of every classroom. Diploma cohorts run structured cohort clinics with working practitioners — a Big-Four tax adviser, a CIM Fellow in marketing, a CIPD-chartered HR director — so students meet professional expectations well before graduation.
