BSc in E-Commerce Management
Course Overview
Built for students moving into Shopify, marketplace and direct-to-consumer roles across UK and international online retail from 2026, the BSc in E-Commerce Management at the London School of Commerce and Technology (LSCT) is a three-year UK honours degree with part-time and accelerated routes available. It is taught on-campus in central London, fully online with live merchandising clinics and through distance learning with mentored deadlines.
On the BSc in E-Commerce Management you will run a real storefront from year one — products listed, payments enabled, orders fulfilled, returns processed — and progressively scale into CRO testing, paid-media management and marketplace strategy. The capstone is a live trading project with a real London-based direct-to-consumer brand.
Industry Context
UK e-commerce is shifting under three pressures: Consumer Rights Act and Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 obligations across DTC trading, the changing economics of paid social as algorithms move, and the rise of marketplace channels (TikTok Shop, Amazon, eBay) as fulfilment infrastructure. The BSc in E-Commerce Management is sequenced against those changes so live trading work runs against current consumer-law obligations and platform realities rather than evergreen examples.
Key Features of the BSc in E-Commerce Management
- CIM- and CIPS-aware content covering merchandising, marketing and procurement for online retail.
- Three study modes — on-campus in central London, fully online with live merchandising clinics, or distance learning with mentored deadlines.
- Live student storefront trading from year one with real customers and real returns.
- CRO and analytics lab using GA4, heat-mapping and split-testing tools.
- Year-two placement with a London DTC brand, agency or marketplace team.
- Capstone live trading project with a real DTC client business.
What You Will Learn on the BSc in E-Commerce Management
The BSc in E-Commerce Management is structured around the e-commerce trading loop — list, attract, convert, fulfil, retain — repeated across own-site, marketplace and social channels. You will graduate able to set up a Shopify store, run a paid-media test, analyse a checkout funnel, write a merchandising plan for a season and defend a media-mix decision under cross-examination.
- Foundations of digital retail and the UK e-commerce landscape.
- Storefront platforms — Shopify, BigCommerce and custom stacks.
- Marketplace strategy — Amazon, eBay, Etsy and TikTok Shop.
- Performance marketing — paid search, paid social and affiliate.
- Conversion-rate optimisation and analytics with GA4.
- E-commerce operations — fulfilment, returns and customer service.
- Retail finance — margin, cohort LTV and contribution analysis.
- Consumer law for online traders — Consumer Rights Act, DMCC Act 2024.
- Capstone live trading project with a real client.
Assessment Approach
Assessment is portfolio-led and tied to live trading. Each year produces working artefacts — a merchandising plan with real margin numbers, a paid-media test report with statistical readout, a CRO experiment write-up, a customer-service complaint resolution — alongside critical essays. The capstone is defended in a 30-minute viva that includes a working DTC operator, with full P&L disclosure for the live trading project.

Why Study at LSCT
The London School of Commerce and Technology (LSCT) is a specialist higher-education provider based in central London and part of Harold International College. We teach in small cohorts so every student is visible to their tutor, run a single intake schedule that students can rely on, and partner with UK professional bodies so qualifications carry weight with employers. London puts Whitehall, the City, Silicon Roundabout, the Royal Courts of Justice, the West End and the NHS estate within a short tube ride of every classroom — and our students use that proximity in their projects, placements and graduate job hunts. Our e-commerce cohort runs its own Shopify storefront from year one — when a real customer complains about a real order, the student handles it.
