BSc in Financial Analysis
Course Overview
The BSc in Financial Analysis at the London School of International Business and Management (LSIBM) is a three-year UK honours degree for undergraduates targeting applied-economics, industry-analysis and consulting graduate roles across UK consultancies, regulators, corporates and public bodies. Sitting inside the Accounting, Finance & Economics faculty, the degree combines the SBE senior-practitioner framework with GES analytical standards, CFA UK introductory content and academic economics, and closes with a dissertation and an applied analytical capstone.
You will undertake a live analytical brief in year two (a UK regulator, consultancy or corporate strategy team), select an optional quantitative strand, and defend your final-year dissertation and analytical capstone in front of a working senior practitioner. The BSc in Financial Analysis is available on-campus in central London, fully online with UK / APAC cohort calls, and by distance learning from 2026.
Key Features
- Curriculum reviewed against the SBE senior-practitioner framework, GES analytical standards and CFA UK introductory content, so the degree lands in front of UK consulting and policy recruiters.
- Three study modes — central London campus, fully online with UK / APAC cohort calls, or distance learning.
- Year-two analytical brief with a UK regulator, consultancy or corporate strategy team.
- Optional quantitative strand — R, Python and causal-inference toolkit.
- Structured placement route — a Whitehall analytical fast-stream test, a Big Four economics team, or a City regulatory boutique.
- Dissertation and applied capstone reviewed by a working senior practitioner in the final year.
What You Will Learn
The degree organises financial analysis around the working questions a UK applied economist or consulting analyst faces — what is going on, what does the evidence say, what should the recommendation be, and how do we defend it. You will graduate producing analyst-standard UK evidence.
- Analytical structuring — MECE, hypothesis trees, issue-driven work.
- Applied macro and micro at practitioner level.
- Industry analysis — Porter, Five Forces, value chain, addressable market.
- Financial modelling — three-statement, driver-based, sensitivity.
- Cost-benefit analysis and the Green Book Five Case Model.
- Regulatory economics — RIA, market failure, competition.
- Data hygiene, evidence quality control and reproducibility.
- Causal inference and quasi-experimental design at introduction.
- Research skills, dissertation method and applied capstone.

Why Study at LSIBM
The London School of International Business and Management (LSIBM) is a specialist business-education provider based in central London and part of Harold International College. Undergraduate cohorts sit in small groups so every student is visible to their tutor, run a single intake schedule students can rely on, and every degree route is reviewed against UK professional-body competencies — ACCA, CIMA, CIM, CIPD, CMI, CIPS, CFA UK and IOE&IT — so graduates carry a credential that City recruiters engage with.
London puts the City, Canary Wharf, Whitehall, Companies House, the FCA, the Bank of England and the West End within a short tube ride of every classroom. Undergraduate students access a fortnightly practitioner clinic, at least one industry-careers day per academic year, a structured placement route and one-to-one application coaching in the final year.
