This policy explains how the Harold International Accreditation Council (HIAC) collects, uses, and protects personal and institutional information provided through enquiries, accreditation applications, complaints, appeals, and use of this website.

Information we collect

We collect information provided through the quick enquiry form, the general enquiry form, the accreditation application form, and the complaints and appeals forms, together with related correspondence and use of this website.

Contact details — full name, job title or position, email address, and telephone number
Institution details — name, type, country, city, website, year established, and registration or licence number, where given
Operational information submitted with an accreditation application — approximate numbers of students, staff, and programmes, main areas of education or training, and primary mode of delivery
Accreditation history — whether the institution has previously been accredited or externally evaluated, and any details provided
Complaint or appeal details — the institution concerned, the nature of the matter, supporting facts, and any outcome previously received
Website usage data collected through essential cookies

How we use information

Information is used to respond to enquiries, to assess eligibility and process accreditation applications, to consider complaints and appeals in accordance with HIAC's complaints framework, and to maintain a record of accreditation status and decisions.

Sharing information

Information is shared only with assessors and staff assigned a role in the relevant application, complaint, or appeal. Where accreditation is granted, an institution's name, category, and status may be published in HIAC's public register of accredited institutions. Information is not sold, and is not shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

Retention

Accreditation application and decision records are retained for as long as necessary to maintain an accurate accreditation history, including for the duration of any accreditation granted. Complaint and appeal records are retained in accordance with HIAC's complaints and appeals framework.

Individuals may request access to their personal data, correction of inaccurate records, erasure where retention is no longer required, and restriction of processing.

Security
