Master in Tourism and Mega Event Management

Master in Tourism and Mega Event Management at HICL

Olympic Games, World Cups, world expos, regional sporting championships, large religious gatherings - mega events are their own world. They reshape destinations for years before and after, demand operational complexity well beyond ordinary event work, and live or die on infrastructure, security, branding and the visitor experience layered on top. The Master in Tourism and Mega Event Management is built for people who want to work seriously inside that world rather than from the outside looking in.

This is a master's-level programme, intended for graduates and working professionals from tourism, events, hospitality, sports management and adjacent fields who want a postgraduate specialism in large-scale destination events.

Why a Master Specifically in Mega Events

Mega events combine almost every challenge in tourism into one project - destination strategy, visitor flow at scale, security and risk, multi-stakeholder governance, sponsorship and brand, sustainability and post-event legacy. The Master in Tourism and Mega Event Management treats them as their own discipline and gives you the strategic, operational and analytical depth to be useful to organising committees, host-city authorities and the tourism agencies that surround them.

Who This Master Is For

• Events professionals moving from corporate or city-level events into mega-event work.
• Tourism authority and destination management staff supporting major event bids and hosting.
• Sports management graduates seeking the tourism and destination angle of major sporting events.
• International candidates targeting roles in cities and countries hosting upcoming mega events.

Where Graduates Typically Progress

Graduates of the Master in Tourism and Mega Event Management move into roles such as event operations manager, host-city liaison officer, destination strategy adviser, visitor experience lead at major events, sponsorship and partnerships executive, legacy and impact analyst, and roles within tourism authorities and event organising committees. Senior positions also depend on years of operational track record alongside the master.
