BSc in Business Intelligence
Course Overview
The BSc in Business Intelligence at the London School of Commerce and Technology (LSCT) is a three-year UK honours degree for students who want to become the analyst other people in an organisation rely on. It sits within our Business & Commerce department and is delivered on-campus in central London, fully online and by distance learning.
You will study SQL, data modelling, modern BI platforms, statistics and the storytelling craft that turns a chart into a decision. By the end of the degree you will have completed a portfolio of analytical work, an industry placement and a final-year capstone with a measurable business outcome.
Key Features of the BSc in Business Intelligence
- CIM and BCS-aligned content on marketing analytics and data-engineering basics.
- Three study modes — on-campus, online with weekly live classes, or distance learning.
- Hands-on Power BI and Tableau labs.
- Year-two placement with a UK insight or analytics team.
- Storytelling-with-data stream across all three years.
- Capstone analytics project with a UK client and measurable outcome.
- Modern data-stack exposure — dbt, BigQuery/Snowflake basics and Git-based analytics workflow.
UK Analytics Context
UK analytics hiring has shifted into the modern data stack — dbt, semantic layers, cloud warehouses and Git-managed transformations — and BI hiring managers now want graduates who can write a tested SQL model, not only build a dashboard. The BSc in Business Intelligence is sequenced against that environment, with a deliberate emphasis on testing, version control and stakeholder-defensible reporting.

Coursework is portfolio-led. Each module produces a tested SQL workbook, a Power BI or Tableau dashboard, a written analytical briefing and a recorded presentation. Students leave the BSc in Business Intelligence with a GitHub-ready folio of dashboards, tested SQL, and case studies that hiring managers at UK fintech and retail analytics teams actually want to see at interview.
Placement and Career Support
Tutors include working analytics engineers, BI developers and senior insight leads drawn from London financial services, retail and the scale-up community. The placement year is supervised and coordinated against the host analytics team's tooling, so each student leaves placement with at least one production-grade dashboard or model on their CV. The careers strand runs CV reviews, dashboard portfolio critiques and mock SQL interviews ahead of graduate-scheme application, with the analytics-careers tutor maintaining live links to BI hiring leads in London fintech, retail analytics teams and central-government data offices.
