UK Higher Diploma in Air Ticketing & Reservation System (Sabre) (Varies-73)

UK Higher Diploma in Air Ticketing & Reservation System (Sabre) (Varies-73) at HICL

The UK Higher Diploma in Air Ticketing & Reservation System (Sabre) (Varies-73) is for travel professionals who already work with a GDS — whether Sabre, Amadeus, Galileo or Worldspan — and want a senior-level qualification specifically focused on Sabre as the primary platform. It sits above a basic Sabre certificate and is built for supervisors, team leaders and senior consultants in travel agencies, corporate travel teams and tour operators.

The programme assumes you already know how to build a basic PNR, issue a ticket and read a fare construction. From there, it pushes into the supervisor's work: complex itineraries, ticket exchanges and revalidations, refunds and ARC/BSP reporting, queue management at team level, and the customer-service judgment that separates a junior agent from a trusted senior.

Why Sabre, Specifically

Sabre remains one of the dominant GDS platforms globally, particularly for North American and Middle East corporate travel. Specialising in Sabre while keeping general GDS literacy is a sensible career choice if you are aiming at supervisor-track roles in those markets. The UK Higher Diploma in Air Ticketing & Reservation System (Sabre) (Varies-73) is structured around that specialism.

Who This Diploma Is For

• Travel consultants with two or more years of Sabre experience aiming at supervisor positions.
• Corporate travel agents responsible for complex itineraries and policy enforcement.
• Tour operations staff handling group bookings and ticketing.
• International candidates targeting senior travel agency roles in the Middle East or Asia.

Career Pathways

Graduates of the UK Higher Diploma in Air Ticketing & Reservation System (Sabre) (Varies-73) typically progress into senior consultant, team leader, ticketing supervisor and corporate travel manager roles. Some move into airline reservations or ticketing back-office positions. Specific airline IATA/BSP authorisations may be required for certain roles, separately from this diploma.

How the Programme Is Delivered

Available on-campus, online and via distance learning. Online tends to work especially well for GDS-based study because the work is screen-based by nature. Module structure and intake calendar are confirmed at enrolment.

Entry Requirements

• Completed secondary education or recognised equivalent.
• IELTS 5.5 to 6.0 (or equivalent) for non-native English speakers.
• Minimum age 18.
• Existing exposure to a GDS (Sabre, Amadeus, Galileo or Worldspan) is strongly recommended.
